Susanville - Prison Inmate Donald Silks a medium security inmate who escaped yesterday from the California Correctional Center in Susanville was apprehended Sunday by corrections agents and local law enforcement officials near Susanville in Lassen County.

Silks, who had escaped Saturday morning, was taken into custody by an off-duty California corrections employee who recognized him from recent media releases on the Internet. Correctional agents and Lassen County Sheriff's Office deputies were notified and responded to the area, taking Silks into custody at approximately 11 a.m.

They identified the suspect as the escaped inmate, noting he was still in his state issued jeans and shirt. Silks was arrested and transported back to the California Correctional Center without incident. This matter will be referred to the Lassen County District Attorney's Office for prosecution.
