The 3rd annual Scandinavian Festival shows the rich tradition of the history and culture of Norway and all Scandinavia. The festival is scheduled 10 a.m.-3 pm. Saturday, Oct. 10 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1201 Saliman Road in Carson City.

There will be demonstrations of traditional food, art forms and music along with examples of the traditional "Bunad" clothing. Great baked goods and the classic Norwegian open-faced sandwiches are among the luncheon fair.

Exhibits on Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden also include demonstrations of the Norwegian "Rosmal" art form, the making of Norwegian lefse, plus raffles, door prizes and more.

The gift shop features Scandinavian items and a storyteller will share tales for the children.

Last year's feature was the invention of the paperclip; this year, the emphasis is on genealogy.

The festival is sponsored by the Queen Maud Lodge No. 42 of Daughters of Norway to promote interest in the Scandinavian Culture, history and language.
