Free lecture at Dangberg Ranch

Doris Dwyer presents the Women's Voices from the Overland Trail lecture, 11 a.m. Saturday, at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park.

The presentation is based on diaries and reminiscences of pioneers who traveled westward from the 1840s through the 1860s. These accounts pay attention to the landscape, American Indian, and the danger and promise of the journey.

Dwyer is a professor of history at Western Nevada College whose research focuses on 19th century women of the American West.

Her appearance is supported by Nevada Humanities Committee, the National Endowment for the Humanities and NVEnergy.

Shade shelters and limited seating provided at the free outdoor program, but you are encouraged to bring your own lawn chairs.
