A Dayton man was killed Friday when he lost control of his motorcycle in a turn on College Parkway East.

Raymond Minifie, 46, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident just before 6 p.m.

According to Carson City Deputy Darin Riggin, Minifie was riding a BMW motorcycle west on College Parkway south of the entrance to the airport when he struck a curb in a turn between Nye Lane and Otha Street.

Riggin said Minifie struggled to control his bike for about 50 feet before it jumped the curb, ejecting him. His speed was estimated at 60 mph in the 35 mph zone, said Riggin.

A friend who was riding a motorcycle behind Minifie was not hurt.

The two had met up a short time earlier at a Highway 50 East bar where they had two drinks, said Riggin.

The accident closed both directions of travel from Nye Lane to Airport Road for about two and a half hours.

The Nevada Highway Patrol is assisting in the investigation.
