The Lego Experience Tour invites families to get "hands-on and minds-on" experiences with Lego bricks, video games and more when it stops at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today and Thursday.

Museum Director Jim Peckham said the special presentation is a traveling exhibit.

"People of all ages love Legos," Peckham said. "We'd love to have had it on the weekend because so many kids are in school during the week, but we'll try to stay open a few extra minutes at the end if we have a lot of kids show up after school."

Peckham said children will be issued passports when they arrive, which will allow them access to a variety of stations.

"There could be contests like who can build a zoo animal the fastest or maybe who can find the three SpongeBob SquarePants in the prebuilts," he said.

"There will be a lot going on with lots for them to build, and see, and play with," he said.

"Whenever you mention Legos, there are so many kids whose eyes light up. They're so popular they've even got Legoland (theme parks). You don't see Lincoln Log Lands," Peckham said, laughing.

"We're just really excited to have that partnership with them so that we can give Carson City a little more of what we like to call 'edu-tainment'," he said.

The Children's Museum is at 213 N. Carson St. For more information call 884-2226.

General admission covers the cost of the event and is $5 adults, $4 seniors, $3 children ages 2 and older. Northern Nevada Children's Museum members get in free.
