The Carson City Library Foundation Oktoberfest runs from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. in the library parking lot at the corner of Room and Washington streets.

It features food, live music, beer and booksignings by local authors. Guests are invited to wear traditional lederhosen and dirndls.

The Carson High Chamber Choir will perform, followed by The Schnitzel Groovers playing traditional polka music until 2:30 p.m. The Blues Edge Band plays rock and blues beginning at 3 p.m.

Oktoberfest contests include, of course, the Chicken Dance with the library's own Dancing Chicken, an ice cream eating contest and stein-holding contest.

As a compliment to the Friends of the Library book sale, about 30 authors have been invited to sell and sign their books.

See the library Web site for a complete list of visiting authors.

Proceeds benefit Carson City Library. For more information, call 887-2244, ext. 1019, or go to www.founda
