The 4th annual Homeless Connect, a collaboration of community service agencies geared toward helping those who are homeless or experiencing poverty, will be held Saturday.

Hosted by Carson City Health and Human Services, this free event is an opportunity for people in need to come to one location and learn about the resources available.

Participants will be able to use a private shower and receive hair cuts, blankets, hygiene kits, hats, gloves, backpacks, school supplies and a large assortment of donated clothing items. A warm meal and entertainment for the kids also will be provided.

There will be a court room set to give participants an opportunity to discuss with Justice of the Peace John Tatro any legal issues, minor traffic tickets, or other concerns that may be preventing these individuals from moving forward.

In conjunction with the Homeless Connect, will be the Homeless Health Day sponsored by a local Carson City physician, Sunset Rotary, and Friends in Service Helping (FISH), Oral Health Coalition and Carson City Health & Human Services. Services to be provided will include physical exams, immunizations, HIV testing, and oral health.

The event will run from

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside the Carson City Health Department at 900 E. Long St.
