Carson City and the Department of Transportation have scheduled a celebration Saturday morning to announce the completion of the newest section of the Carson Bypass.
The "Fun Run/Walk/Bike" event begins at 8 a.m. today in the southbound lanes of the freeway just south of Highway 50. Participants will travel south on the new roadway to Fairview Drive, then turn north in the northbound lanes.
NDOT spokesman Scott Magruder said the public is invited to join.
The freeway itself is schedule to open to vehicles on Thursday.
