College entrance exam help?

The CHS counselors will be offering a preparatory SAT course 7-7:45 a.m. Oct. 5-9 in the library.

Students will need to sign up in the guidance office. Students will learn standardized test taking strategies.

College-bound sophomores and juniors have the opportunity to take the PSAT on Oct. 17. This test prepares them to take the SATs and ACTs (college entrance exams) in the spring of their junior year.

Juniors who score exceptionally high may qualify for National Merit Scholarships. Students can sign up in the student finance office.

The cost is $15, and they will be given a study guide. Deadline to sign up is Oct. 9.

The yearbook class at CHS is already hard at work developing sales plans for two kinds of advertising that are offered in the Carneta yearbook.

Students have been or will be contacting various local businesses. While the businesses get to support the yearbook program at the high school, the business gets the recognition in a book that is read and re-read again and again.

The Carneta staff also offers Buddy Ads for sale. These are sections in the yearbook that are sold to parents, relatives, groups of friends, best friends, etc. commemorating students with a display of photos and a personal message of congratulations and support.

And again, while the person who is honored by a Buddy Ad gets to know how very special he or she is, the yearbook benefits through the financial support it needs to continue to publish the yearly book of Carson High School memories.
