The Dayton Food Bank may be without a home next month after Lyon County officials asked the service to relocate so repairs can be made to the Dayton Community Center.

The issue will be discussed at the Dayton Regional Advisory Council meeting, 7 p.m. April 7, 34 Lakes Blvd.

"We're hoping it's temporary," said Christy McGill, director of Healthy Communities Coalition. "We don't have anything set in stone yet, we're trying to hurry as quickly as possible, obviously."

Organizers are encouraging people who are willing to house the food bank to attend this week's meeting.

The number of people using the monthly food giveaway has grown from 250 a month in 2008 to 830 last month.

Meanwhile, Lyon County unemployment was 19.5 percent in February.
