Colorado River may fluctuate in Laughlin area

BOULDER CITY, Nev. (AP) - The federal Bureau of Reclamation says water releases at Davis Dam could raise or lower water levels up to four feet Sunday in the Colorado River between Laughlin and Bullhead City, Ariz.

Bureau spokesman Bob Walsh says regulatory power production will switch temporarily from Hoover Dam to Davis Dam, if needed, to meet Southwest region electricity demands.

Hoover Dam usually serves the regulatory power function.

But Walsh says bureau officials will be conducting river depth and cross-sectional measurements in the channel south of Hoover Dam following excavated during construction of a new bypass bridge.

Officials say boaters below Hoover Dam should not be affected by the survey crews, but boaters and river users below Davis Dam may see fluctuating river flows.
