The Carson City and Reno Disabled American Veterans chapters will host their third annual Poker Run on Saturday.

The run goes from

10 a.m.-1 p.m. and begins at the Reno Harley-Davidson, 2315 Market St., Reno, and includes stops at Carson City Harley-Davidson, Genoa Bar, 1st & 10 Bar and Grill in Dayton and Sgt. Major's Silver Dollar Saloon.

The final stop is at Ole Tyme Saloon at the bottom of Geiger Grade in Reno, where there will be music by D & N Entertainment and a raffle.

The cost is $30 per player and includes a ride pin and a meal. The first 150 registrants will receive a T-shirt.

This annual event has included 150 riders each year and has raised more than $10,000 for local projects benefitting disabled veterans and their dependents. The most visible result of the fundraiser has been the purchase of vans to transport veterans to the VA medical center for appointments.

The chapters also prepare and sponsor meals for veterans and the homeless.

The DAV Northern Nevada Wheelchair Program provides wheelchairs and other equipment to disabled veterans and their dependents.

Chapter Service officers also assist veterans in submitting claims for veterans to receive compensation for disabilities incurred in service.
