CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - The Nevada Democratic Party has filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission alleging violations of federal spending and reporting rules by Republican gubernatorial candidate Mike Montandon and U.S. Senate candidate Danny Tarkanian.

The complaint filed Thursday claims Montandon's campaign, who shares an adviser with the Tarkanian camp, illegally used soft money for an Internet ad against Democratic U.S. Sen. Harry Reid, to the benefit of Tarkanian.

The ad featured a photo of Reid and his son, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Rory Reid, with a line that said "Put an end to the Reid dynasty."

The complaint says federal election law prohibits a state or local candidate from using state campaign funds on public communications attaching a federal candidate.
