Obituary: Thomas F. Canty Jr.

Thomas F. Canty Jr, 64, passed away on April 16, 2010, at the Mini Cassia Care Center in Burley, Idaho, from a long illness.  Beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend.  He was born in San Francisco to Thomas Sr. and Cresenza Canty on October 9, 1945.  He grew up in Castro Valley, Calif. where he met his wife of 40 years, Lynette.  He is also survived by his son Sean (Gina); daughter Jennifer Moss; and three grandchildren, Billy Moss, Ryan and Paige Canty; sisters Carol and Christine Canty. His is predeceased by sister Carol.

He moved his family to Carson City in 1976 and worked as a machinist until July 2007. 

He was a United States Marine and served in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968.

He was an avid outdoorsman, loved to fish and camp with friends and family. He coached soccer and little league and was involved with his children in scouting and numerous school activities.

A celebration of life will be held 1-4 p.m. Saturday, May 1, 2010, in Reno at his son's home.  For information, please call 291-0246 or 287-3893.
