D'Vine Wine and Bistro will close its doors for good on Friday, owner Kim Donner said Tuesday.

The downtown restaurant and wine bar, 200 N. Stewart St., opened in 2006 and was purchased by Carson Nugget Inc., in December 2009, which gave Donner and her husband Chris a lower rent to keep the business afloat.

But after Chris Donner was offered and accepted a job offer in Hawaii about a month ago, the family decided to leave the business and start a new life on the island of Oahu. They move in June.

The business was likely to close by the end of the year, anyway, she said.

The Donners put the business up for sale last month, but she said because the lease would only be good until December, no buyers accepted.

Nugget owner Steve Neighbors, who is the sole trustee of the Mae Adams Trust, said the intent is for the property to be used for the proposed Carson Nugget project. He said more details about the project are likely to be released this week.

As for Donner, said she may open a restaurant in her new home, or she may try her hand as a cocktail waitress.

"I don't know what's in my cards at this point," she said. "This has been a great chapter in my life. I feel blessed."

She said she will still accept and host private parties in D'Vine Wine through May 22. For details e-mail kimdonner@sbcglobal.net.
