Excitement at Empire: The seeress Mrs. Bowers set the people afire in Empire recently telling of a new big mine and extensive ranches in this mundane sphere. The heat is said to have caused a fight between Davis and Maraten at a local beer saloon. Neither were hurt badly. There will be a meeting at the reform club tomorrow night to organize the Library Society.

100 YEARS AGO

People imagining an ice famine this summer in Carson need not worry. Doc Benton has secured again the franchise for ice from the Floriston Ice Company at last year's rates. The ice is said to be as clear as crystal and as hard as granite.

70 YEARS AGO

As the result of a threatened Tong War in Carlin, Leo Chang, a sixty year old man committed suicide with a bullet to his head. The threatened war began as a dispute over the purchase over a restaurant and money.

50 YEARS AGO

Once again the famed Indian fighter and trapper Kit Carson has stepped into the city's history. The Nevada State Museum has received the letters and a copy of an original picture from Kit Carson Irvine of Madera, California.

20 YEARS AGO

Jurors were treated to an impromptu concert by Judas Priest lead singer Bob Halford during a trial where parents claim a song from the "Stained Glass" album contains the subliminal message "do it."

10 YEARS AGO

About 125 warnings or citations for water wasting have been issued as the city's water system reaches capacity. On Sunday, demand reached 21 million gallons.
