NBC August breakfast meeting in Reno with Sandoval

The monthly Nevada Business Connections breakfast meeting will be at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18 at the Atlantis Casino, Reno. Republican gubernatorial candidate Brian Sandoval is the scheduled speaker.

Nevada firms get $1.3 million in energy grants

The federal Energy Department has issued grants to two Nevada companies for projects designed to make clean energy technology available in the market place.

The Nevada companies, Rocky Research in Boulder City and Multi-Phase Technologies in Sparks, will receive a total of $1.37 million.

Rocky Research is developing ways to make solar cooling economically viable, developing medium temperature solar collectors to power a commercial solar air conditioner. The company will receive $994,606.

Multi-Phase Technologies is developing a cost-effective method of monitoring the collection and storage of carbon dioxide to find and stop potential leaks. The company will receive $381,928.
