Road report for the week of Aug. 16-22

As a result of the next phase of the NDOT project on the freeway, the following closures will occur:

• Valley View Drive has been permanently closed between Edmonds and Line drives.

• Koontz Lane closed between Raglan Circle and Edmonds Drive until January.

The Roop Street widening project is continuing and is expected to be completed by the end of 2010. The following impacts are expected this week:

• Highway 50 will be closed at Roop Street from 6 a.m. through 5:30 a.m. Monday for underground utility construction. Traffic will be detoured at Stewart Street and Saliman Road. Local business access will be accommodated beyond the detour to the closure at Roop Street.

• Highway 50 will have intermittent lane closures at Roop Street.

• Roop Street is closed to through traffic from Highway 50 to Robinson Street until early September. Local business traffic and patrons of the Carson City Community Center will have access via Washington Street.

• The intersection of Caroline Street and Roop Street will be closed to through traffic through early September. Traffic may cross Roop Street at Washington Street.

The Nevada Department of Transportation is working to add a third northbound lane on Highway 395 between Jacks Valley Road and Lupin Drive. The following activity is expected for this project:

• Lupin Drive at Clear Creek Road remains closed for the reconstruction of that intersection. Business access for the south end of Lupin Drive will be provided from Highway 395 at the existing signal; business access north of the Clear Creek intersection will be provided from the north off of Synder Avenue.

• Work continues with single-lane closures on northbound Highway 395 between Jacks Valley Road and Lupin Drive between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Due to utility work, the following impacts are expected:

• On Tuesday, Mark Way will be closed between Emerson Drive and Louise Drive. Detours will be signed.

Due to water utility improvements, the following closures are expected to occur:

• Butti Way will be closed between Airport Road and Fairview Drive (local traffic allowed) on weekdays. Detours will be marked.

• Fairview Drive will be reduced to a single lane between Butti Way and the 5th Street round-about with flaggers on weekdays during daytime hours. Minor delays are expected.

• Hells Bells Road between Riparian Way and Parkhill Drive will be closed to through traffic (local traffic allowed) all week. Detours will be marked.

• Third Street will be closed between Curry Street and Carson Street on Friday from 2-11 p.m. for a special event.
