Lyon County Animal Services has expands it hours at the Silver Springs shelter.
The new hours are:
Kennel Hours: Monday-Friday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. (excluding holidays)
Saturday and Sunday: 1-4:00 PM
Office Hours: Monday-Sunday 8 a.m.-4 p.m. (excluding holidays)
Lyon County Animal Services will have at least one animal services officer on duty seven days a week from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. (Excluding holidays).
In 2009 Lyon County Animal Services saw a 62-percent decrease in dogs euthanized and a 61-percent increase in dogs being rescued, according to Sheriff Alan Veil.
Lyon County Animal Services provides services to the residents of Smith Valley, Mason Valley, Silver Springs, Stagecoach, Mark Twain, Dayton, Dayton Valley, Mound House and Silver City.
