130 YEARS AGO

Lieutenant Governor Adams returned to Carson yesterday after an absence of several months. He has been on his ranch in Nye County and his conversation is imp-regnated with strong agricultural flavor indicative of language of ranchers, bull-whackers and sheep herders. If left to his own way, he would plow the capitol square and plant rye. He hopes to start an agricultural school and become the president of it.

100 YEARS AGO

Judge O'Brien of Goldfield has been given a final decree of divorce from his wife. The four children in the dispute given to the judge. The complaint describes that sometime during November, 1909, the Judge was attacked with a hairbrush by his wife and beaten multiple times. It is also claimed she threatened to kill him.

70 YEARS AGO

Reno and Lake Tahoe experienced their strongest earthquake in six years today. Carson residents reported swaying lights, but no significant damage.

50 YEARS AGO

The first self-serve laundromat opens in Carson City. Hanville Laundromat will have 30 machines open 24 hours a day, seven days a week in a new cinder block building on east highway 50.

10 YEARS AGO

Legislation passed in 1999 defining a manufactured home as a single-family residence may not mean the homes will become a part of traditional neighborhoods.
