$1,000 reward in assault of Reno teen

RENO (AP) - Secret Witness is offering a $1,000 reward for information about a man suspected of accosting a 14-year-old girl in southeast Reno near Damonte Ranch High School.

Reno Police Lt. Mike Whan says the teen was walking near the school about 4 p.m. Monday when a man approached and asked for a cigarette before pushing her to the ground, climbing on top of her and demanding she remove her clothes.

Police say they struggled. The man fondled her but allowed her to get up and she ran to a friend's home.

The white suspect is described as in his 40s with a heavy build, short dark hair and a goatee, wearing a gray T-shirt with a pocket. His overall appearance was described as "dirty."

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 334-2115 or Secret Witness at 322-4900.
