A Lyon County employment program, which reimburses participating employers 50 percent of a new employee's wage for their first 90 days on the job, is looking for more potential employers to join the program.

Jennifer Kersten, who runs the Employment Partnership program in Lyon County, said she is working to place about 50 people into jobs, but so far has too few employers willing to participate.

The program is funded through federal stimulus dollars and works with job seekers that include day laborers to former attorneys.

"They are really good quality people who have just been slammed by the economy," Kersten said.

The program in Lyon County has received $172,000 from the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act and also provides training for job seekers.

Kersten can be contacted at 775-575-1703.
