Carson City investigators are searching for a truck seen Wednesday near the scene of a robbery in East Carson City.

Capt. Ken Sandage said a passerby spotted two men sitting in a white Chevy Silverado pickup with California plates outside an apartment in the 1600 block of Airport Road about 4 p.m. Wednesday.

A short time later, two men knocked on the door of unit 150. After opening the door, the three men inside the apartment were ordered on the ground at gunpoint.

Sandage said the robbers demanded drugs, guns and money, and ransacked the apartment. He said at one point when the assailants appeared to be leaving, one of the robbers noticed someone was standing outside.

"The victims said they heard one of the men say to the other, 'Somebody's outside.' So they waited to leave when it was dark," said Sandage.

The men left in a car belonging to one of the victims. An hour later, police found it abandoned on Old Hot Springs Road. Evidence there suggested the men left in another vehicle.

The victims freed themselves and ran to the manager's office to call police just after 5 p.m.

Secret Witness, 322-4900, is offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects. Tipsters remain anonymous.
