The dense fog that filled much of Western Nevada Monday is expected to linger until Tuesday morning when a gusty cold front moves in, bringing rain and snow, said Brian O'Hara, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

"The fog should last possibly through tomorrow morning," O'Hara said. "And tomorrow we have a storm system moving through so the winds should increase and should scour out many of the valleys and get the fog out of here."

Wind gusts are expected to be as high as 25 mph tomorrow with temperatures in the 40s. By Tuesday night, there will be an 80 percent chance of precipitation with snow falling at 5,500 feet.

O'Hara said the valleys should expect a dusting of snow by Wednesday morning with weather improving later in the week.

However, another storm system is expected to move into the area by the weekend.
