A Silver Springs woman was seriously injured Wednesday morning in a two-car accident on Highway 95 Alternate in Silver Springs.

Just before 9 a.m., Clarice M. Brandt, 80, was in her Mercury Tracer when she attempted to cross the highway eastbound at Green Avenue, according to Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Chuck Allen.

He said Brandt drove into the path of a southbound Chevy pickup driven by Eldon R. Sisney, 65, also of Silver Springs.

The front of Sisney's truck struck the left side of Brandt's vehicle. Both vehicles came to rest off of the highway.

Allen said Brandt was airlifted from the scene to Renown Regional Medical Center by Care Flight for serious injuries. Sisney was not transported. Both were wearing seat belts, said Allen.

Both directions of the highway were closed for 15 minutes to accommodate the helicopter.
