A man armed with a crowbar robbed the Jacksons Chevron gas station at Rand Avenue and Highway 50 East this morning.

Carson Sheriff's Detective Dave Le Gros said the suspect, a man in his late teens or early 20s, entered the convenience store at 1400 Rand Avenue about 5:30 a.m. and immediately went to pry the register open.

"He decided to attack it instead of hitting a button," said Le Gros.

When the clerk came from around the corner and saw him, she asked him if he was going to harm her.

"He told her to stay back, I only want the money," said Le Gros.

The man was successful at opening the register and made off with a small amount of cash, said Legros.

The robber then fled north on foot behind the store,
