A 15-year-old Gardnerville girl who had been missing for three days was found safe Wednesday at Sand Harbor.

Douglas County Sheriff's Sgt. Jim Halsey said Morgan Karnofel was spotted at the beach in the afternoon by a family friend who contacted the sheriff's office.

Washoe County sheriff's deputies found her at the beach and transported her to the Incline Village sheriff's substation where a parent picked her up, Halsey said.

Morgan had been staying with a friend in Topaz Ranch Estates since June 23 while her mother was out of town.

According to a report filed with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office on Monday, Morgan hung up on her mother Sunday after they argued about a party that was held in her Country Estates home without permission.

Morgan was still at the friend's Topaz Ranch Estates house when she spoke to her mother. She argued with the friend late Sunday night and got a ride to Douglas High School where she was last seen around midnight.

Carson City officers joined Douglas County deputies in the search because it was believed Morgan was with friends in Carson City where her father lives.
