RENO (AP) - NV Energy has filed a document detailing how it intends to meet short- and long-term electricity demands for its Northern Nevada customers.

The company, in its Integrated Resource Plan filed Thursday with the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada, seeks to invest in renewable energy initiatives, expand energy efficiency and conservation programs, and build new transmission facilities around Fallon.

NV Energy officials say Thursday's filing marks the first time in several years that the company is not requesting approval of a fossil-fueled power plant. The company instead is counting on Nevada's plentiful renewable resources to meet future demands.
