Two Carson City residents were arrested in Reno shortly after 10:30 p.m. Monday after crashing then fleeing from a stolen black Ford Mustang that belonged to a Carson City woman.

Anthony Brian Paetz, 24, and Krystal Renee Nardone, 23, were driving north bound on U.S. 395 when a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper tried to pull them over for speeding in a construction zone.

The driver, Paetz, allegedly fled down the Plumb Street off-ramp at 90 mph, lost control and crashed into the stop light at the bottom of the ramp.

Paetz and Nardone then ran from the vehicle, according to police.

Police captured Paetz near the scene of the crash who was allegedly in possession of a .40 caliber pistol. Nardone allegedly fled the scene and hid in a bathroom inside the Best Western Airport Plaza Hotel where she was eventually arrested.

Both were transferred to Renown Medical Center for injuries, treated and then booked into the Washoe County Jail.

The totaled car belongs to Carson City resident Patricia Barkley and was stolen on July 8.

Barkley said she went to Reno to see the car on Tuesday.

"None of my stuff was in there except ammunition," said Barkley, who was $400 away from making the last payment on the Mustang. She's borrowing a friend's car for now.

"What sucks, I am responsible for the towing," she said. "I had to pay the $301 to get it out today."

Police also found a Samurai sword with a 26-inch blade and a sawed-off Mossbert 12 gauge shotgun in the car. They also found drug paraphernalia and burglary tools.

Paetz, who was suspected of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, was booked on suspicion of 20 counts including attempting to elude police, second offense DUI, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a sawed-off shotgun, possession of a firearm while intoxicated, possession of drug paraphernalia and reckless driving.

Nardone was booked on suspicion of obstructing and delaying a peace officer and possession of drug paraphernalia.
