Evelyn Spencer O'Neill, 89, a 23-year resident of Carson City, died July 21, 2010. She was born March 4, 1921, in Au Sable Township, Iosco County, Mich., to John Howard and Irene (Tremain) Spencer. During WWII, she served as a yeoman for two years in the Navy W.A.V.E.S. She retired from the California State Library in 1977. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Lillian Moody, Marian Nicander, Ann Jane Averil, Maxine Gerhardt and granddaughter Jennifer E. O'Neill.
Among her survivors are her sister Violet Parker of Puyallup, Wash., sons and daughters-in-law John and Maria O'Neill of Carson City, Daniel and Dianna O'Neill of Bradenton, Fla.; former daughter-in-law Gail Darney O'Neill of Fallon; grandchildren and their spouses Patricia and Jason Howarth of Reno, Michael and Bree O'Neill of Fallon; great-grandchildren Evelyn and Macray O'Neill of Fallon,;and numerous nieces and nephews.
At her request no funeral ceremony will be held. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice. FitzHenry's Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for arrangements.
