SOUTH LAKE TAHOE (AP) - A Colorado ski resort executive has been selected to head the Heavenly Mountain Resort on Lake Tahoe's south shore.

Vail Ski and Snowboard School Director Pete Sonntag will begin Aug. 1 as Heavenly's vice president and general manager.

In his position at Vail, he oversaw a staff of more more than 1,200 employees. He previously held similar positions at the Beaver Creek and Copper Mountain resorts in Colorado.

Sonntag's appointment as Heavenly's general manager was one of several leadership changes announced Thursday by Vail Resorts Inc.
