Greenhouse hosts customer appreciation day

Today is Customer Appreciation and Meet Your Vendor day at Greenhouse Garden Center from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. More than 30 garden vendors, as well as a KOLO live radio remote with Monica J. and UNR Cooperative Extension representatives will be on site. Free hot dogs, snacks and soft drinks, Blind Dog Coffee, Papa Murphy Pizza and free chair massages and chiropractic evaluations from Carson Tahoe Chiropractic will be offered. Prizes will also be given away.

Seminars continue next week at Greenhouse Garden Center "Paver Installation" at 9 a.m. June 19.

At 11 a.m. June 19, the seminar is "Growing Hydroponically."

Those who attend a seminar receive a discount coupon for the center.

Herbs are topic of workshop

Full Circle Compost will host the workshop "Have You Heard the Word of the Herb?" 11 a.m.-2 p.m. today.

Topics include: How to create an edible landscape; How to use that space for herbs & flowers that you can eat; Incredible kitchen experiences from fresh herbs; and Eat your Weeds. what to keep and what not to keep.

What's at the farmer's markets?

Today is the last Early Market in the Carson Station lot. Next week the 3rd & Curry St. Farmers Market will begin. This week look for cucumbers and zucchini at the market this week as well as early peaches and apricots, cherries, strawberries, asparagus,peas, onions, garlic, hydro-ponic tomatoes, walnuts, spinach, lettuce, carrots, fresh eggs, and veggie and tomato starts.

Pond tour tickets on sale

The Northern Nevada Pond Club is sponsoring a pond tour in Carson Valley and Carson City on July 10.

Enjoy the beauty and serenity of ponds of all types, ranging from simple to very elaborate. See various types of fish, plants, waterfalls, fountains, streams, and landscaping. Visit with pond owners. Exchange ideas about pond construction and water gardening. Discover for yourself why the term "Koi" comes from a Japanese expression meaning, "Living Jewels".

Tickets are $10 per person or $15 per couple. They are available at Greenhouse Garden Center in Carson City and Carson Valley Garden & Ranch Center in Gardnerville.
