GOP-ers for Reid are false Republicans

I received a list of names of Republicans who are allegedly backing Harry Reid. I say allegedly as I have not confirmed their status. They may call themselves Republicans, but they are not. They can't be. To back Harry Reid, you cannot believe in the basic tenets of the Republican party: smaller government, reduced spending, personal responsibility, self-reliance, and health care is not a right under the Constitution.

The people on this list obviously want something. They have to have an agenda, otherwise, they would either remain silent or back the conservative Republican who opposes Reid in November.

Never forget Harry Reid's words about the United States Marines, the United States Army, the United States Air Force as they prosecuted the war in Iraq: "The war is lost!" That's Reid at his best as a party hack for the Democrat party. So much for freeing 25 million people from a murderous dictator and helping to set up a democracy in the Middle East.

Google "List of Republicans for Reid" and you'll get all the information you need to make your own decision. Further, Google "Basic tenets of the Democrat party" and "Basic tenets of the Republican party" and you will see how the Republicans for Reid cannot be truly considered Republicans.

Comments on library project misconstrued

Regarding the letter from Denise Gillott:

Denise, I do not believe that you were present at the June 3 Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting, so you may have heard only second-hand what I stated regarding the Arts and Cultural Coalition. After reviewing this portion of the meeting and rereading your letter, I believe the record should be corrected.

I was asking the board of supervisors if the contract with P3 was to include other options for the centerpiece of the project. Within this context, I stated that several members of the coalition had voiced concerns regarding the condition of the Bob Boldrick Theater and that this also deserved consideration for improvement.

I mentioned that there has been discussion for many years that an option for a new library could be to convert the current Carson City Community Center to that use, replace the current library with community meeting space, and build a new theater downtown as part of a multi-purpose event center.

I was not speaking for the coalition at the board of supervisors meeting, but rather relaying comments I had received, furthering the dialogue on the topic, and requesting that our public funds be spent sparingly.

Rory knows education is key to our success

We were thrilled with Rory Reid's showing in the primary election for governor. Everyone has watched the budget for education in Nevada hit the skids for the past four years, and Rory knows our economy will improve when we gain a reputation for doing what it takes to improve our schools. Then Nevada will attract varied businesses which will want to bring their jobs and families here.
