Fundraiser at Carson Nugget for cancer research

The Carson Nugget Steakhouse will host a fundraiser for cancer research on June 28.

The $75 event will feature a raffle drawing for a private wine pairing dinner for eight with the proceeds going to the Relay for Life Foundation. Other prizes include slot machines and golf packages.

The dinner, which starts at 5 p.m., will feature the J. Lohr Winery.

Executive Chef Nick DeMagistris will pair the wine with a seven-course meal, including pan seared venison medallion and a marinated and oven roasted New Zealand rack of lamb.

DeMagistris said the event last year brought in more than $2,000 for the Relay for Life Foundation.

This year the goal is $3,000 to $4,000.

Benefit dinner for Merriner Cottages

Adele's Restaurant & Lounge, 1112 N. Carson St., along with Brenda Chapman are hosting a five-course gourmet meal at Adele's Restaurant & Lounge, 1112 N. Carson St. on June 28.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with no-host cocktails. Dinner at 6:30 p.m.

Proceeds go toward operating costs for the 15 deluxe Merriner Cottages which provide restful nights for traveling patients seeking treatment at the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center.

Tickets are $200 per person. Seating is limited.

Support group meets for stroke survivors

Carson Tahoe Stroke Survivors/Caretakers Support Group meets 4:30-5:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month. This support group was created to help patients and those in our community cope with the challenges that come after suffering a stroke. Get ideas and strategies that may help with daily activities, and provide education about strokes and the recovery process.
