Carson Dog Sports will present a free demonstration and workshop for bird dogs and their owners, 1:30-3 p.m. Saturday at the training facility, 5242 Highway 50 East.
Dogs and puppies of all ages are eligible. The class will introduce owners of bird dogs to the sport of field hunting. Owners can expect to gain tips to train a dog from novice to a fully trained field dog.
Instructor Guy Lundgren, owner of Sendero Retrievers, has been training dogs since 1983 and uses natural, non-abusive training techniques.
"I train hunting dogs and their people to cooperate with each other," Lundgren said. "My goal is to help you turn your dog into the highly skilled retriever and effective hunting partner that you've always wanted."
Lundgren put on a demonstration with his field hunter, Hank, as well as teach owners how to begin working with their dogs to move them in the direction of full field training.
