SALT LAKE CITY - Doug Deeds hit his sixth homer of the season, but it wasn't enough as the Aces fell 6-5 to Salt Lake in the series opener Saturday night.

Reno took an early lead, as Yunesky Sanchez got the Aces on the board with a two-run double in the second. Deeds followed with an RBI-single to give the Aces a 3-0 lead, but the Bees would chip away, eventually taking the lead for good on a Cory Aldridge's RBI-double in the seventh.

Wes Roemer tossed the first five innings but did not figure in the decision. Zach Kroenke (2-3) took the loss for Reno after giving up the eventual game-winning run.

Deeds finished the evening 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk and a sacrifice bunt. Sanchez added two RBIs, while Pedro Ciriaco went 2-for-4 for his second-straight multi-hit game.

Reno returns home July 4, at 6:35 p.m. for a special Fourth of July extravaganza. A limited number of tickets have just been released for the Fourth of July game.
