Senator Square: Prom, sports, senior projects and Oz coming to Carson High

Carson Performing Arts is busily rehearsing the family favorite "The Wizard of Oz."

It will be performed at 2 p.m. March 20, 21 and 28 and at 7:30 p.m. March 20, 26 and 27 at the Carson Community Center.

The show will feature Flying by Foy, the professional theatrical company in Las Vegas, to fly the lead characters.

Students from Carson High are not only receiving the expertise of the excellent community center staff's technical training, but now also will get this wonderful experience.

Carson High School's culinary arts program again took state honors at last week's ProStart Competition.

This is the fifth time since the opening of the culinary program that they have won the state title.

The winning teams now advance to the national competition in Kansas City. The fundraising has started.

The Carson Nugget and Chef Nick Demagistris are hosting a dinner at 5 p.m. March 22.

Reservations for this amazing dinner can be made by calling 882-1626 ext. 209. The cost of the dinner is $45 excluding tax and gratuity.

A silent auction also will be held.

Spring sports are now in full swing. I hope you can come support our spring teams, baseball, softball, track, boys golf, swim and diving.

The Carson High Student Council will be hosting the Middle School Leadership Conference on March 16 in the afternoon.

If you are or have a middle school student interested in participating in the high school leadership program when they enter Carson High School, contact the leadership instructor at their middle school or Jennifer Tartan (CHS) at 283-1747.

The senior class will host the annual Senior Auction at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Senator Square.

Seniors can be "bought" in exchange for service or packages. Please come and bid on a senior or two to raise money for prom!

Also as a fundraiser for prom, the senior class will host the Senior Yard Sale 7 a.m.-noon March 27 at the high school.

If you have items you'd like to donate to be sold, bring them to CHS or call Megan at 720-7791 for a pickup.

Spring Fling Week is coming March 29-April 2. Be on the lookout for dress-up days and activities for that week.

Senior project judging panels will be May 20 and 21.

Invitations have been sent out to previous judges, however we are still in need of volunteers.
