Leon Childress, 83, of Carson City, died March 6, 2010. He was born March 31, 1926, in Leemaster, Va., to James and Pearl Childress. He was preceeded in death by his wife, sons Robert and Barry and daughter Betty. He is survived by sons Leon (Marian) Childress of San Jose, Calif., and Bill (Robin) Childress of Santa Barbara, Calif.; daughters Barbara Galbraith of Carson City and Bonnie Cole of Santa Maria, Calif.; brother Jimmy Childress of Vansant, Va., and sister Georgia Damron of Newport News, Va.; and 11 grandchildren. Inurnment will take place at Los Angeles Veterans Cemetery. FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
