Junior ski races at Alpine on Sunday

Alpine Meadows Ski Resort will host the Junior Big Mountain Ski Championship beginning at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Come check out some dynamic youngsters throwing down in this year's Junior Big Mountain Championship.

This three-part race series will wrap up with the final leg of competition between teams from Alpine Meadows, Sugarbowl and Squaw Valley.

Athletes between 11 and 14 years old will have a chance to show their best moves in two runs while being judged on line choice, technique, control, fluidity, and overall impression. Call 530-581-8332.

Season passes at Diamond Peak

Diamond Peak in Incline Village is offering seasons passes for the 2010/2011 season beginning Monday.

A non-resident full adult season pass costs $454 and a non-resident midweek adult season pass costs $363 at the early-bird rate.

Purchasing next year's passes now allows the holder to ski the rest of this season free.

On Monday, anyone with a birthday between April 12-Dec. 15 can ski free.

Passes can be purchased online at www.diamondpeak.com, by mailing or faxing an application, or in person by visiting the Diamond Peak Guest Services window. Call 832-1177 for more information.

Dummy Downhill coming to Diamond

March 27 marks the 10th anniversary Diamond Peak's Dummy Downhill, a favorite community event.

Participants build a dummy on skis or a snowboard that gets launched off a big jump on Showoff run. Categories include Best Crash, Longest Jump, Most Creative and whatever else the judges to make up.

Come and enjoy live music and great commentary while the dummies get hucked off a jump. Individuals and teams entering a dummy receive a commemorative T-shirt and lift ticket for the day (limit two per dummy).

Dummies must be at the base lodge by 11 a.m. to be judged on creativity. Jumping begins at noon followed by an award ceremony. For rule details, go to www.diamondpeak.com or call 832-1177.

Homewood's 2nd Annual Mini Slopestyle is 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday on the Lower Rainbow Ridge, top of Madden Chair at Homewood Mountain Resort.

All mini-skiers and snowboarders are invited to compete. Kids ages 12 and under will have a chance to show some style and, more importantly, have fun as they race down Lower Rainbow Ridge, from the top of Madden Chair.

Registration is upstairs in Homewood's North Lodge. A parent or legal guardian must be present for signature of liability release form. All contestants must wear helmets. $25 per competitor, which includes a lift ticket. Awards will be presented at 1 p.m.

Snowbomb Big Air Competition begins 9:30 a.m. March 20 at Alpine Meadows Ski Resort on the Dancefloor in the Shreadows Terrain Park.

Check out some of the biggest air and sickest tricks in the area at the 2010 Big Air Competition.

The Snowbomb team will stop at Alpine Meadows to wrap up the "Sick N' Twisted Freestyle Tour" with a final competition for the area's finest skiers and riders.

Competition tickets are $39 for young adults (ages 15-22) and $55 for adults (ages 23-61). Registration in the main lodge, practice will begin at 10:30 a.m., and the competition will begin at noon. Helmets are required.
