Rep. Dean Heller, R-Nev., will address the Northern Nevada Development Authority on April 8, updating members on his efforts in Washington, D.C.

Among the issues he will address, he said, is the fact that nearly three million jobs have been lost since the stimulus bill was passed.

"Big government is not the answer to fixing our economy," he said.

He called for policies expanding tax relief as the keys to creating jobs and economic prosperity in Nevada.

He also charged that illegal immigrants cost American taxpayers nearly $100 billion a year in education, health care and law enforcement.

"Employers need effective tools to determine if a worker is in our country legally and eligible for work," he said.

The breakfast meeting will be held at the Carson Nugget. Doors open at 7 a.m. Tickets cost $20 with reservations, $35 at the door. Call 775-883-4413.

Heller is seeking his third term in the House of Representatives in the upcoming elections.
