Changes in Nevada foreclosure mediation on agenda

(AP) - The Nevada Supreme Court is considering adjusting rules for the state's foreclosure mediation program.

Chief Justice Ron Parraguirre (pair-uh-GARY') says a public hearing is set Tuesday to consider recommendations from a 12-member mediation program rules committee.

The panel is made up of lenders, homeowners, Supreme Court justices and staff representatives.

Parraguirre says officials always expected to have to amend rules after the program started eight months ago.

Recommendations now include extending timelines for mediations and allowing for sales of non-owner-occupied housing without program certificates.

They would also require legal representatives for homeowners or lenders to be Nevada attorneys, and allow a second mediation if a lender doesn't make a temporary modification permanent once homeowner obligations are fulfilled.
