Train ride fundraiser for hospital

The Carson Tahoe Regional Healthcare Auxiliary is hosting the V&T Wine, Cheese and Dessert Train on Saturday.

The train departs at 10 a.m. from the Carson City Eastgate Depot to Virginia City and returns at 3:15 p.m.

Cost is $65 per person, which includes wine, cheese and dessert tasting to and from Virginia City; "The Way it Was" museum tour; lunch; exclusive shopping discounts; and shuttles available for transportation.

Walk of Hope Saturday

Walk of Hope for Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia begins at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Lampe Park in Gardnerville.

Walk of Hope is a fundraiser to help bring awareness of Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia, which occurs when the diaphragm does not completely close in a newborn and causes the organs to migrate into the chest cavity. These newborns undergo numerous surgeries in order to correct this birth defect.

Free lecture to address nutrition

A free lecture "Start Healthy Eating & Nutrition" will take place April 13, 5:30 p.m. in the Bristlecone Room at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center, 1600 Medical Parkway, Carson City.

Documentary looks at health effects of bottled water

The documentary"Tapped" will be screened at 5:30-8 p.m., March 31 at the Tahoe Center for Environmental Sciences, Room 139 & 141, Sierra Nevada College Campus, 291 Country Club Drive, Incline Village.

The award-winning documentary examines the bottled industry and its effects on our health, climate, pollution, and our reliance on oil.
