Chamber of Commerce plans election forums

The Carson City Chamber of Commerce will conduct two candidate forums before the primary election on

June 8.

The first chamber forum is set for 6 p.m. April 12 at the Carson Nugget to hear candidates for the city supervisor seats. Six candidates are running for the Ward 1 seat being vacated by Ward 1's Robin Williamson and three are running for the Ward 3 seat held by Pete Livermore. Both are termed out.

The race is non-partisan. Two candidates for each seat will advance to the general election.

Western Nevada College professor Robert Morin will serve as moderator and ask each candidate a series of three questions. The audience will have the opportunity to weigh in.

The second forum will be held at 6 p.m. April 15 at the Carson Nugget featuring the candidates for sheriff, the three Republican candidates for Assembly District 40 and the two Republican candidates for state senator for the capital district.

The event is free and open to the public.
