Winners from the 27th annual Chili on the Comstock Regional Cookoff Saturday in Virginia City were:
• PEOPLE'S CHOICE: Cafe Rio in Virginia City
• BEST SALSA: Mark Haught, Pahrump
• CHILI VERDE (GREEN): 1st Adrian Fuhrman, Felton Calif.; 2nd Gerry Lind, Sacramento; 3rd Voni Medcraft, Reno
• RED CHILI:
1st - Herb Holman, Reno, won $400 cash, trophy, advances to world championships this year in Manchester, N.H.
2nd - Steve Atkinson, Reno, this was the 200th chili cookoff in which he has participated
3rd - Sheila Beller, Bakersfield, Calif.
Entries were officially judged by International Chili Society judges.
