Summer, fall registration open for all students

Registration is already in full swing for the summer term and fall semester at WNC.

Anyone may now register via Web-REG to secure a seat in class.

Already, more than 1,300 students have signed up for the fall term that begins Monday, Aug. 30. In addition, more than 800 have enrolled for the shorter summer term beginning Monday, June 14.

Students elect new leaders for upcoming school year

The Associated Students of Western Nevada College welcomes a new president for the 2010-2011 school year. Jason McGill is a graduate of Silver Stage High School in Silver Springs and is studying criminal justice.

McGill has been a member of student government organizations for more than seven years, and looks forward to putting his experience and leadership skills to work serving the students of WNC.

Students also elected Ashley Cruz as vice president, Carson campus; Leah Burfield, vice president, Fallon campus; and Ashlee McGarity, secretary.

Senators for ASWN in Carson City will be Jose Quiroga, Meagan Machart, Michael Hunter and Christopher Smith.

ASWN is a group of students that works to enhance student life at Western.

They organize events on and off campus, support college outreach initiatives, and participate in college committee meetings as representatives of the student body.
