The Carson City Sheriff's Office is hosting the seventh annual Cops and Kids fair Saturday.

From 10 a.m.-2 p.m. outside the Carson City Sheriff's Office, 911 E. Musser St., there will be activities for children that foster positive relationships with law enforcement, and increase awareness about drug and gang prevention, said Lisa Davis, juvenile services coordinator & DARE officer.

Special guest is Miss Nevada 2010 Julianna Erdesz.

Members of the K9 Unit, the Explorers, Search and Rescue, Reserves, Volunteers in Police Service, S.W.A.T., CSI crime lab, evidence, detention, patrol and others will be on hand to meet the community and answer questions. There also will be food and music.

Among the groups participating are: Partnership Carson City, Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Nevada, Mentor Center, the Emblem Club, Ron Wood Family Resource Center, Stand Tall Don't Fall, St. Teresa's youth group, Karate for Kids and Victory Christian Center.

Davis said the event is an excellent opportunity for parents to find out about summer youth activities available in Carson City.
