Dann Lewis has resigned as director of the Nevada Commission on Tourism. He will leave the position officially Dec. 17, according to Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki, who chairs the commission.

Lewis has been tourism director for more than 18 months and, during that period, the commission's operating budget was cut by 41 percent. Despite those reductions, Lewis directed print, TV and online tourism campaigns Krolicki said proved highly successful.

Deputy director for the commission's sales and industry partners, Larry Friedman, will be interim director while a permanent replacement is sought.

No reason for Lewis's departure was given.
