Jean E. Evans passed away at 79 in Carson City in the company of family and friends. She was preceded in death by an ex-husband, Bill Evans, a local cement finisher. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, George and Kathy Green of Georgia, and their children George Jr. and Katie; daughter Becky Evans of Reno, and her son Jody Hester and his children Leila and Zack; daughter and son-in-law Eddie and Billie Smith, of Carson City, and Billie's son William Evans, of Alaska, and his children William Jr. and Sadie.

Jean was born in Detroit and raised on a farm near Owosso, Mich. She started working as a waitress at the age of 14, work she truly loved. She worked in Michigan, Southern California, Flagstaff, Phoenix and finally in Nevada. Locally she worked at the Carson Nugget, Horseshoe, Cactus Jacks and the Palace in Virginia City. To all her customers who loved her and she loved in return, it was her great privilege to serve you. In her 70s she worked making slot change at Safeway in Carson City, retiring at 77.
