SPARKS - Arran Rumbaugh scored twice and Kaitlyn Holmes and Josie Daggs added a goal apiece to lead Carson High's girls soccer team to a 4-1 win over Spanish Springs Saturday afternoon in a Northern 4A crossover match.

Carson improved to 11-0-2 with three matches left in the regular season.

"I thought we passed really well," Carson coach Randy Roser said. "We came out a little flat. Nine of the girls had PSAT's today. Some of our decision making was slow (early)."

Holmes, off a pass from Ali Cowan, got the Senators on the board in the 20th minute, and Josie Daggs added a goal 15 minutes later to make it 2-0.

The score remained there until the 56th minute when there was a miscommunication among Carson defenders. Emmy Heller got a hand on the shot, but it deflected off the crossbar and a Spanish Springs player followed in the shot to make it 2-1.

Rumbaugh scored Carson's last two goals, the second coming in the 75th minute.

Carson returns to action Tuesday at 7 p.m. when it hosts Wooster. It is the Senators' final home game of the season.

CARSON BOYS TIE AGAIN

SPARKS - The Senators and Spanish Springs fought to a scoreless tie Saturday afternoon.

"They (Spanish Springs) are a good side," Carson coach Eric Masters said. "It's like I said before, teams have figured out who they are. We had some opportunities (today) and they had some opportunities."

The game ended with Carson goalie Marco Magallon making a nice stop on a direct kick. Carson's best opportunity came late when Luis Camacho cross the ball to Sam Hutchinson, but a nice tackle by a Spanish Springs defender thwarted the threat.

Masters praised the play of Magallon and Michael Samii.
