All sorts: The Episcopalians will give a moonshine party at Treadway's Park.

Gibson & Dealy's saloon was sold at Sheriff sale and purchased by Dr. Lee, one of the attaching creditors for $475.

Advertisement: "Ball at Yank's! An old-time dance will be given at the Tallac House, Lake Tahoe, Saturday Evening, September 11. The steamer Governor Stanford has been chartered, and will leave Glenbrook ... and return to Glenbrook at noon on the day following. Free passage for the round trip to all persons holding tickets to the Ball. Music by the Davis family. Tickets, including supper $3.50. R. Clement, Proprietor (Yank)."

An embarrassing predicament: A young society lady in this city while getting into her buggy ... jumped in with considerable vim and the bottom of the carriage gave out. The girl went through, but her clothes didn't ... and the exhibition very much shocked some young gentlemen passing by. She was extracted only after great difficulty and much mortification.

70 YEARS AGO

Orphans' home children will board a Virginia and Truckee special train as guest of the Kiwanis Club and the Cole Brothers circus.

Nellie Mighels Davis celebrates her 96th birthday. Mrs. Davis, native of Maine, came to Carson City in 1866 and has been a resident of Carson City during 74 of Nevada's 76 years of statehood ... (owner of the Appeal from 1866 to 1945).

50 YEARS AGO

David Helgren and Robert Shriver are hosts at youths costume party and the group enjoyed a picnic supper with a "conga line clue hunt." Those attending were: Terry Graham, Jackie Bordoli, Jan Packard, Fredrica King, Anne Kvam, John Felesina, Fred Jones, Harle Smith.
